1. Technical Specs

Following the massive success of the Qiaodan Leili 2.0 (TG 2.0)—a max-cushioned cruiser perfect for recovery runs—Qiaodan has officially dropped its high-performance evolution: the Qiaodan Leili 2 GT (or Qiaodan TG 2.0 GT). Positioned as a dedicated Super Trainer, the Leili 2 GT trades the soft, mushy ride of its predecessor for a firmer, snappier, and more versatile platform capable of handling any distance.

Here is how the Leili 2 GT stacks up against its standard sibling and other top-tier super trainers:

  • Weight (US Men’s Size 8):
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: Ultralight at just 187g (~6.6 oz).
    • Dynafish Xiaonian: ~189–191g.
    • Qiaodan Leili 2.0 (TG 2.0): ~221g.
    • ASICS Superblast 3: ~238g.
  • Stack Height:
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: Massive 43mm heel / 36mm forefoot.
    • Qiaodan Leili 2.0: 44mm heel / 37mm forefoot.
    • Dynafish Xiaonian: 41mm heel / 34mm forefoot.
    • ASICS Superblast 3: 45mm heel / 37mm forefoot.
  • Heel-to-Toe Drop:
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: 7mm.
  • Midsole Tech:
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: 100% PEBA (the same high-end foam found in their flagship carbon-plated racer, the Feiying Plaid 3). Plateless design.
  • Outsole:
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: Full-length CPU rubber with mechanical grooves.
  • Estimated Price:
    • Qiaodan Leili 2 GT: $110 – $130 USD.

2. The Ride Experience

Right out of the box, the weight was shocking. For a shoe with a 43mm stack height, 187g is unheard of. It feels like a nimble short-distance racer rather than a chunky trainer. The build quality, from the adhesive work to the heel padding, lives up to the “GT” (Grand Tourer) branding.

Stepping into them, the shift from the original TG 2.0 is immediate. The TG 2.0 was marshmallow-soft; the Leili 2 GT is firm and planted. The PEBA foam inherited from the Feiying Plaid 3 stays plush underfoot but is tuned to resist bottoming out. After 70km of testing—spanning recovery jogs, tempo work, and 15–20km long runs—it has proven to be a surprisingly versatile, smooth, and rhythmic workhorse.

3. Fit & Lockdown

I wear a US Men’s 8 (26cm). Here is the breakdown:

  • Length: True to size. There’s a perfect thumb’s width of space in the toe box.
  • Width (Important Warning): The Leili 2 GT has a narrow fit, specifically through the midfoot. This shoe is NOT suitable for wide-footed runners. You will feel significant pressure on the sides if you don’t have a standard or narrow foot.
  • Midfoot & Heel: Because the fit is snug, the midsole sidewalls pressed into my arches for the first few miles. I had to loosen the laces across the midfoot to find comfort. Unfortunately, the lack of an extra eyelet for a runner’s knot makes it harder to lock in the heel if you loosen the midfoot too much. Tip: Give it a few break-in runs to allow the upper to stretch, then tighten only the top eyelets.
  • Tongue: A gusseted, well-padded tongue that stays centered and protects the top of the foot perfectly.

4. Cushioning & Energy Return

The heart of the Leili 2 GT is that 100% PEBA midsole.

  • Feel: Rated at a 7.8/10 on the softness scale—the “Goldilocks” zone. It protects your joints without turning the ride into a mushy, energy-sapping mess.
  • Bounce: Thanks to the firmer density, the energy return is instantaneous. You get that snappy, vibrant pop upon toe-off that you expect from premium PEBA.
  • Consistency: Even without a carbon plate, the structure holds up well for 90–120 minute efforts, resisting the heat-induced sag common in lesser foams.

5. Stability

Despite the 43mm stack and lack of a plate, the stability is better than the TG 2.0. The slightly firmer PEBA and the locked-in, narrow fit keep the foot from rolling or twisting. It feels grounded, even when cornering at higher speeds on sidewalk concrete.

6. Ride & Long-Distance Capability

The Early-Stage Rocker geometry makes transitions feel effortless, regardless of whether you’re a heel or forefoot striker. Crucially, while the standard TG 2.0 left my calves fatigued on runs over 20km due to its excessive softness, the Leili 2 GT’s firmer platform eliminates this issue. It is a true “Long Run Monster.”

7. Upper & Outsole

  • Upper: High-density engineered mesh that breathes exceptionally well even on hot days.
  • Outsole: The full-coverage CPU rubber is top-tier. It is quiet—no “slap-slap” noise—and the grip on wet asphalt is excellent.

8. Versatility & Style

This is a great “do-it-all” shoe. It’s smooth enough for walking all day, and the 43mm stack provides a natural 4.3cm height boost that looks great with joggers or jeans for a modern, athletic look.

9. Who is this for?

  • Under 60kg: The 187g weight makes you feel fast, while the PEBA keeps the impact low during long runs.
  • Over 60kg: The 43mm PEBA stack provides plenty of travel and protection, keeping your legs fresh without the stability issues of softer shoes.

10. Value Proposition

Compared to the $250+ ASICS Superblast 3, the Leili 2 GT delivers similar high-end performance for nearly half the price. It is arguably the best value-for-money super trainer on the market right now.

11. Verdict & Scoring

Pros:

  • Record-breaking weight (187g).
  • Responsive, high-grade PEBA foam.
  • Breathable and durable.
  • Excellent for long runs.

Cons:

  • Very narrow fit (skip it if you have wide feet).
  • Lacks a dedicated runner’s knot eyelet.

Final Score: 9.5 / 10 (Must-Buy!)
